Thanks to all ASSE Members and Guests that supported the Georgia Chapter Toys for Tots Campaign held during the December Holiday Social.  We collected 142 toys, almost double of last year!  In appreciate The Marines gave the Georgia Chapter a Commanders Award.

Congratulations! To Harold Hobbs who received the 2007 Georgia Chapter Safety Professional of the Year award.  Harold was recognized for his accomplishments in the ES&H profession at the Georgia Chapter's August 2007 Meeting.

The ASSEF thanked and recognized the Georgia Chapter for its 2007 donation to the Foundation.

Safety Professional of the Year

The Georgia Chapter ASSE, annually, recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of an individual in the safety and health profession with the "Safety Professional of the Year Award" (SPY).

Do you know a fellow ES&H Professional and Georgia chapter member who deserves this award? If so, please email your nominations to Stanley Reid at sreid@ncilp.com by April 1, 2008, for consideration for the 2008 SPY Award.

ASSE Annual Scholarship Award

Eligibility requirements to be selected to receive Georgia ASSE Chapter scholarship are applicant 1) must be a resident of Georgia, 2) must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in occupational safety and health or a closely related area of study, and 3) must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater (of a 4.0 scale) at time of application Applications should be forwarded to the ASSE Foundation.

Maynard Spence Foundation Scholarship Award

Maynard Spence dedicated his career to promoting job site safety on construction projects. Maynard is gone, but his dedication lives on through the efforts of the Maynard Spence Foundation, in partnership with the Georgia Tech Research Institute, Georgia ASSE and other organizations, the Foundation offers two annual scholarships for construction safety eduction.

Application and all supporting materials must be received by the foundation on or before September 1 of the year of award. Visit the Maynard Spence Foundation homepage for more information on available scholarships.
