Job Responsibilities

+ Monitor the regulatory process to identify any new or revised regulatory action affecting the utility industry. Partner with the Safety & Health staff to implement requirements of new regulations or revisions to existing regulations

+ Represent Georgia and/or Southern Company on internal committees and external industry groups.

+ Serve as subject matter expert in designated areas and assist in performing audits for Internal Auditing. Represent Georgia Power on various Southern Company safety & health committees.

+ Be a mentor to junior Safety & Health staff and assist in their development into safety & health professionals.

+ Maintain Georgia Power Safety & Health guidelines and policies. Provide oversight of all GPC bulletins, policies, and procedures for their impact on employee safety and compliance.

+ Assist with statistical analysis and trending of safety data and reports to all agencies such as OSHA and SEE. Provide incident data reporting oversight and investigation.

+ Manage numerous safety & health projects and applications. Manage testing of new safety items and assist in the development and review of specifications for GPC safety equipment.

+ Development Safety Alerts, presentations and training materials.

+ Provide technical guidance that ensures consistent application of safety policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

MACTEC is responsible for safety management of the entire project site and for taking steps to ensure that contractors and construction coordinators (CCs) conform to their responsibilities for safety and for management of hazardous materials, including but not limited to applicable OSHA requirements. As part of this responsibility, MACTEC, as Construction Site Manager (CSM) will performs the major activities listed below.

Development and implementation of a comprehensive safety program, documented with a Safety Manual for the Owner’s Project, which emphasizes the value of human life and elimination of accidents. Included within this program shall be safety orientation meetings for all construction workers and CCs on the Project Site, a written safety program to be included with all construction contracts, full-time safety personnel for enforcement of the safety program, and required regularly scheduled meetings with all contractors and CCs to ensure safety objectives are met. This Safety program shall also ensure that the specific Safety training required for the actual site activities are carried out by the CC and/or Construction companies and that work is not carried out until the specific safety training has been conducted.

Conduct weekly inspections of each contractor's work area and document any safety concerns. Include in the inspections both site conditions and non-conformances of relevant procedures noted in the contractor’s safety manual and hazard analysis. Findings must be provided by CSM to the responsible contractor and CC, and CSM must diligently follow up until their timely corrective action(s) has (have) been implemented.

Receive and catalog reports for all OSHA- reportable injuries and property damage occurrences and other relevant safety statistics. Provide a written weekly safety report to Owner as to site safety performance and any significant issues, and actions taken by CSM to adequately address the issues. Provide incident reports to Owner for OSHA- reportable injuries.

Contractors found not conforming with their safety responsibilities must be addressed by the CSM's project manager with the contractor and applicable CC and reported to Owner. Failure to comply with site rules must be documented in writing to the party involved in the violation.

The CSM shall also use our best efforts to implement measures to ensure that public roads and rights-of-way are kept free of any impact due to the Work.

Basic/Required Qualifications:
· Requires knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations as they pertain to large construction projects
· Minimum 2 to 5 years of construction related safety experience for a large manufacturing facility or equivalent
